Missouri: Preserving French Heritage Today

Les Amis Saint Louis has as its mission is to promote education, preservation and awareness of French Creole heritage and culture in the mid-Mississippi River Valley. The group was founded during the 1993 Mississippi River floods to support the endangered istoric resources of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri and the surrounding historic French Creole corridor. It has sponsored programs, tours, lectures, and books contributing to a greater understanding of the French Creole heritage of the area. https://les-amis.org/

A brochure prepared by Les Amis Saint Louis provides an excellent introduction to the French Creole Corridor. The one- or two-day tour presented gives historical information as well as outlining routes to follow, providing an on-the-ground introduction to the Pays des Illinois, including both sides of the Mississippi.
